Structural Geology
Structural geology studies the deformation of rock — folds, faults, foliations, and shear zones — and how those structures control ore distribution and rock-mass behavior. In mining it guides exploration targeting, mine design, ground control, and the interpretation of grade continuity within the orebody. Skilled structural geologists translate field and core observations into the kinematic and stress models that underpin both resource and geotechnical decisions.
