Linux is the dominant server, embedded, and edge operating system for battery production tooling — running MES databases, factory-floor compute, pack controllers, and the cloud back ends that ingest fleet telemetry. As a hard skill it requires comfort with the shell (bash, awk, sed), systemd service authoring, package management, kernel basics, and the security hardening (SELinux, capabilities, namespaces) that production deployments require. Engineers apply this when configuring a factory-floor edge server that runs OPC UA ingestion, when bringing up an embedded Yocto image for a pack controller, and when triaging a production database server's I/O performance during a quality-event investigation.
