Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Design for Manufacturing (DFM) discipline shapes battery cell, module, and pack designs so they can be built reliably at scale and at acceptable cost. As a hard skill it requires evaluating tolerance stack-ups, joining-method selection, tooling impact, and assembly sequence early in the product cycle. Engineers apply DFM during cell tab configuration, module clamping strategy, and pack enclosure design to eliminate features that would slow the line or cause yield loss in production.
