Computer Vision
Computer vision applies deep learning and image-processing algorithms to extract information from images and video — used in battery manufacturing for inline defect detection, electrode coating uniformity inspection, and cell-tab weld quality assessment. As a hard skill it requires fluency in convolutional neural networks, annotation workflows, data augmentation, model training with frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow, and deployment at line speed on edge hardware. Engineers apply computer vision to replace subjective human visual inspection of cell cans and electrode surfaces, catching defects at rates and consistency that manual inspection cannot match.
