(portable) Rechargeable Battery Association (PRBA)
The Portable Rechargeable Battery Association (PRBA) was founded in 1991 by major battery manufacturers as a nonprofit trade group. PRBA played a key role in establishing nationwide battery recycling initiatives, most notably the Call2Recycle® program. The group has been active in shaping industry regulations, including supporting the Universal Waste Rule and the Federal Battery Bill to streamline battery recycling. PRBA also advocates for harmonizing U.S. and international lithium battery transport regulations, benefitting both trade and safety. Today, PRBA represents the rechargeable power industry on legislative and standards issues, informing members and supporting industry-wide collaboration.
