Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) is America's premier national laboratory for particle physics and accelerator research, located in Batavia, Illinois. Managed by the Fermi Research Alliance for the U.S. Department of Energy, the facility was founded in 1967 and later named in honor of Nobel Prize-winning physicist Enrico Fermi. For decades, it operated the Tevatron, which was the world's highest-energy particle collider until 2011 and famously discovered the top quark in 1995. Today, Fermilab shifts its primary focus toward pioneering neutrino research, leading major international projects like the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE). The laboratory collaborates with over 50 countries to solve the fundamental mysteries of matter, energy, space, and time.
