Spelman College
Spelman College is a private historically Black liberal arts college for women located in Atlanta, Georgia, renowned for producing a disproportionate share of Black women who go on to earn STEM doctoral degrees. The college offers bachelor's degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Biology, and Environmental Sciences, providing a strong foundation for graduate and professional STEM careers. The Dual Degree Engineering Program allows students to earn a Spelman BS and an engineering degree from a partner institution — including Georgia Tech, MIT, Columbia, Purdue, and Auburn — in a 3+2 model. Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry programs feature research-focused curricula designed to feed directly into PhD programs at leading research universities. Atlanta's proximity to Georgia Tech and a dense concentration of STEM employers makes Spelman a critical pipeline for diversifying Georgia's and the nation's engineering and technology workforce.
