Isothermal Community College is a public two-year institution located in Spindale, serving Rutherford and Polk counties in the foothills of western North Carolina. The college takes its name from the Isothermal Belt, a climatological phenomenon that has historically attracted manufacturing to the region, and its educational mission directly supports that industrial tradition. Isothermal offers a comprehensive lineup of technical and engineering programs including mechatronics engineering technology, electronics engineering technology, electrical systems technology, mechanical engineering technology, computer engineering technology, computer-integrated machining, and computer-aided drafting technology.
