Iḷisaġvik College
Iḷisaġvik College is Alaska's only Tribal College, located in Utqiaġvik (Barrow) on the North Slope of Alaska, serving the Iñupiat community with career and technical education that combines Western academics with indigenous knowledge of the Arctic environment. The college's Information Technology programs, including an associate degree and multiple certificate tracks in IT support and data analysis, prepare students for technical roles supporting the region's energy, telecommunications, and government sectors. Construction Technology programs offer associate and certificate credentials built on National Center for Construction Education and Research curricula, encompassing welding, carpentry, electrical systems, pipefitting, and heavy equipment operation relevant to Arctic infrastructure. The General Science associate degree provides a transfer pathway for students pursuing four-year programs in environmental monitoring, resource management, or scientific fields related to North Slope resources. Iḷisaġvik College is a critical workforce development institution for one of the most remote communities in the United States, preparing residents for careers in oil and gas, Arctic construction, and public service.
