Haverford College
Haverford College is a private liberal arts college located in Haverford, Delaware County, approximately 10 miles west of Philadelphia, founded in 1833 and known for its strong Quaker tradition of academic integrity and community governance. Despite its small size, Haverford has an outsized reputation for producing STEM graduates who go on to earn doctoral degrees at some of the highest rates of any liberal arts college in the country, particularly in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The college's Bi-College consortium with Bryn Mawr and Tri-College partnership with Swarthmore dramatically expand course offerings and laboratory resources available to students across all STEM disciplines. Haverford's Integrated Natural Sciences Center provides modern research infrastructure for faculty-student collaborative projects, and students regularly co-author published research with their professors. The Environmental Studies major, jointly administered with Bryn Mawr, reflects Haverford's commitment to interdisciplinary science education connecting ecological, chemical, and social dimensions of environmental challenges.
