Elizabeth City State University
Elizabeth City State University is a historically Black institution located in Elizabeth City, on the coastal plain of northeastern North Carolina. Founded in 1891, it has built a distinctive identity around aviation and aerospace technology, housing one of the few HBCU programs focused on unmanned aircraft systems in the country. Computer science, mathematics, and engineering technology programs provide strong quantitative and computational foundations for students pursuing technology careers. ECSU partners with the United States Coast Guard, NASA Langley Research Center, and regional defense contractors to offer research experiences and internship pathways for its students. Graduates enter careers in aviation operations, software engineering, defense technology, and federal government STEM roles.
