Bryn Mawr College
Bryn Mawr College is a private women's liberal arts college located in Bryn Mawr, Montgomery County, approximately 11 miles west of Philadelphia, founded in 1885. Bryn Mawr has long distinguished itself as one of the few women's colleges to grant doctoral degrees, and its science and mathematics departments have produced a disproportionately high number of women who go on to earn PhDs in STEM fields. The college offers strong programs in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Geology, with particular emphasis on undergraduate-faculty research collaboration that mirrors graduate-school rigor. Graduate programs in Physics and Chemistry lead to M.A. and Ph.D. degrees, while Mathematics offers a combined A.B./Ph.D. pathway enabling talented undergraduates to accelerate into doctoral study. Bryn Mawr's Seven Sisters tradition and its Tri-College consortium with Haverford and Swarthmore provide students with expanded course offerings, cross-registration, and joint research opportunities across multiple STEM disciplines.
